Public Library
There is a public library available to residents of Nyon and neighbouring villages with a section of English fiction books, also other sections in German and Italian. The English section is not vast, but there were one or two books on our Book Club list.
There is an arrangement that members of the Nyon Library can borrow books etc. from all the libraries in Geneva. The library is situated diagonally opposite the Hotel des Alpes/Restaurant Le Perdtemps in Nyon, just adjacent to the Perdtemps car park in one of the oldest buildings in Nyon.
OPENING HOURS:
Monday, Tuesday, Friday: 15h-18h
Wednesday: 10h-12h & 15h-18h
Thursday: 15h-19h
Saturday: 9h-12h
For those living in Prangins (or other villages, not in Nyon) the cost p.a. is:-
Young people between 15-18 years, apprentices, students: 10 frs
Adults: 20 frs
AVS, AI & unemployed: 10 frs
(Passport or other ID needed when you enrol.)
There is also a reading room with the day’s newspapers, current magazines and CDs to listen to.
There is also The Library in English, rue de Montoux (opposite the Kempinski Hotel) in Geneva: www.thelibrary.ch which has a vast collection of English books. They will be having a sale of second-hand books on 6 & 7 May – always worth a visit!
